CBSE origins trace back to the Board of High School and Intermediate Education, Rajputana, established in 1929. In 1952, it was renamed the Central Board of Secondary Education, and in 1962, it was reconstituted to serve the educational needs of students across India, especially those whose parents had transferable jobs .
